The GFS has had 11 straigh runs with a US hit.Latest (18z 8/17) has florida hit then up the coast to just southeast of our area.http://mag.ncep.noaa.gov/...ToModel=&imageSize=M

I agree Matt, no way it will be a cat 3 or 4 storm whether it lands over coastal NJ and NYC or Eastern LI with that speed. I think more likely it will be a minimal cat 1 hurricane or a strong tropical...

The track is getting very interesting. I work on Long Beach Island, carpenter for a contracting company. I'm wondering when we'll get the word to start boarding up customers homes.

Maybe I am reading this wrong...but the 00z NAM slows down the storm....bit further south @ 78 when compared to 84 on 18z....
